Have you ever been to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA? It’s been one of my favorite places in the city for a long time, and it’s become super recognizable worldwide partly because of its famous “Urban Light” exhibit. The exhibit is comprised of about 200 old street lamps that once lit the streets of Los Angeles in the 1920’s and 30’s and now stand all grouped together in the museum’s front yard on Wilshire (hence “urban lights”).
This exhibit is perfect for taking Instagram pictures at. To see a list of the best Instagrammable street art and murals in LA, click here!
I’ve been meaning to go and shoot photos here for a while, and just got around to doing it the other week! It was a really beautiful sunny day, and me and my friend Kit went on a weekday when it wasn’t too crowded which enabled us to get awesome pictures. We also went and checked out the Pink House Project recently! One of the things I always recommend to people who aren’t from LA is to check out our museums and street art installations when they’re here – they’re such a good non touristy alternative to some of the old tourist cliches like Hollywood Boulevard and the walk of fame! What do you think of the Urban Lights installation at LACMA?
Anyway, because we’ve been experiencing a big heat wave (typical since it is summer and we’re still in a bad drought) I wore a really lightweight and flowy shirt which you can find here for under $50! Plus I’m a ripped jeans addict, and you can find the ones I’m wearing here for a really reasonable price as well. This outfit is pretty much a summer staple for me. I wear a lot of camis, and I think pairing them with a comfortable pair of jeans or shorts and cute sandals is the perfect uniform for summer. Check out the photos below and let me know your thoughts in the comments, and thank you for reading! 🙂
