Last Tuesday I went with my friend Kit to check out the brand new Pink House Project in mid-city LA, and we had a fun time taking a bunch of pictures there and people watching all of the other bloggers and people who came to do the same thing! These houses are actually tear downs that will be demolished soon and an apartment building will be put up in their place, but for now there are three side by side pink houses, and everything from the driveway to the garbage bins is painted the same shade of neon pink. They were painted as a means to start a conversation about housing in LA.
I love finding bright, interesting and unique locations at home in LA and wherever I travel to – as you probably figured out from my post on my favorite Instagram spots in LA! I’m also glad we got to shoot here so quickly after this installation went up as the people who live in that neighborhood are not too happy about the added traffic and their parking spots being taken, so the city may be shutting this down even sooner than expected. As this is being written on June 16th, the houses were painted only 7 days ago and are supposed to be there for two more weeks, but if you want to see them I’d try to go ASAP. If you want to get over to see the Pink House Project installation while it’s still around, head over to 1500 Hi Point Street in LA.
The outfit I’m wearing in these pictures is a combination of two of my favorite trends for summer this year, embroidery and rose pink. I found these amazing high waisted embroidered jeans here, and there’s also a denim skirt version which is very in right now! The cute rose cami is available here and is very affordable!
Have you been to see the Pink House Project yet? Or if you’re not from LA, are there any cool art installations in your city that you would recommend checking out? Leave me a comment below with your suggestions!
