I can’t believe the first month of 2017 is over already! Does anyone else feel like it flew by? Today I wanted to post about my January favorites, which include beauty products and my favorite lounges in LA that I spend a good amount of time at. This is my first favorites post ever, so next month you’ll definitely see a longer list of stuff. For now I’ll start with makeup products:
- Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed Highlighter in Opal
I’m a big fan of Becca products because Becca is a cruelty free brand, and this highlighter is (obv) vegan. If the brand is cruelty free, then how could the highlighter not be vegan, you ask? Certain makeup products, eyeshadow and highlighter included, can actually contain fish scales for added shimmer. If you don’t think that’s gross, try looking up the term ‘carmine’ and you’ll see that other products, like red lipstick, contain crushed bugs for bright coloring. I wish I was making that up but nope!
Aside from all that, the Becca Opal highlighter is so natural looking and applies like an actual dream. I got this mini product from the impulse buy section at Sephora and I’ll for sure be repurchasing it in the full size 🙂
2. Pacifica Cactus Water Makeup Removing Wipes
Pacifica is another brand that I love and will probably post about a lot. This brand is free of basically all harmful chemical additives that are typically found in conventional brands, and these makeup wipes are actually biodegradable and they smell so good!
3. Mario Badescu Rose Water Facial Spray
One of the reasons why your skin starts to wrinkle is because it’s lacking in moisture. This is why I drink tons of water and I’m now addicted to facial sprays. This one from Mario Badescu has aloe and rosewater, which are both so soothing and they help your skin stay hydrated.
I was never a big club person until I moved to LA. Now I go to 1OAK and Warwick pretty regularly and I never get tired of them! It’s weird because I don’t drink but I’ll go out and dance and have a great time. In the picture below we were celebrating my lovely vegan friend Camilla’s birthday and Leonardo DiCaprio was sitting at the table literally right next to our group’s table. I could clearly see him, even though there was a mob of people surrounding his table and crowding over into our space. I really wanted to go meet him but it was too loud so I just had fun being starstruck haha!
Some of my other favorite night spots are Skybar, EP & LP, Perch, the Standard, Catch, Laurel Hardware, and the Mama Shelter rooftop in Hollywood (anyone else that’s also from LA will understand how good a place has to be before you’re actually willing to go to Hollywood!) because it has really good views of the Hollywood sign and the whole city.
