Weekend Healthy Morning Routine

Since I’ve seen so many morning routine videos on YouTube, I got inspired to post about what my typical Saturday or Sunday morning looks like. I’ve come to realize that having a routine that you stick to every day really helps get you going in the morning because when you have a schedule to stick to, there’s no excuse to just sit around! Some days it can be really hard to change out of your PJs and leave the house, so here is the morning routine I try to do most weekends:

8:00 a.m. Wake Up

As soon as I wake up, I take out my phone and start working. I usually spend about half an hour reading and responding to emails, reading comments, and looking at my Instagram feed and notifications. This period also gives my body additional time to physically rest before I actually get up and start my day.

8:30 a.m. Make Breakfast

I always try to have a healthy breakfast every day, no excuses. 9 times out of 10, I will make a banana ice cream smoothie bowl with fruit toppings for breakfast. Sometimes if I want something really sugary I’ll put a few squares of dark chocolate on top too. Other toppings include almond or peanut butter, granola or cereal, coconut shavings, and anything else I can think of that tastes good on top of ice cream! Other typical breakfasts for me would be a big plate of seasoned hash browns and a bowl of fat free, high fiber cereal, or just a bunch of fresh fruit that I make sure to eat enough of to make myself full.

9:30 a.m. Beauty Routine

I’m a pretty slow eater, so by the time breakfast is made and I’m done eating it’s usually around 9:30.

At this point it’s time for me to wash my face, moisturize my skin, and apply my makeup. Two of my favorite moisturizers are actually coconut oil and Vitamin E oil. My skincare routine is usually very simplistic because I want to know exactly what every ingredient is in all of my products.

During the morning, I only apply basic makeup like foundation, concealer, and eyeliner. Then, I add to that when I go out at night – usually blush, mascara, and eyeshadow OR lipstick.

10:15 a.m. Exercise

Now it’s time to leave the house. If it’s sunny outside, I will usually go do a hike. If not, I head for the gym in my apartment building or go take a class at a studio.

Hiking (including driving time) will take me into the afternoon. If I’ve just gone to the gym, I’ll finish around 11:00. Then I use the rest of the morning to read blogs and write comments!
